Hunter’s Chance (Hungary)

The performance reinterprets Iliad by Homer in the context of current Israeli–Palestinian and Russian–Ukrainian conflicts. It explores the nature of war through the personal perspectives of an Israeli-Hungarian woman and an Israeli man of Ukrainian origin, combining documentary and fictional elements. The project’s relevance is shaped by the current geopolitical situation, allowing the central motifs of the classical epic to enter into dialogue with contemporary reality through modern theatrical means. The aim of the project is to present a performance that highlights the universality of human experience and emphasizes that the human cost of armed conflict means suffering, loss, and trauma for all parties involved. At the same time, the performance and the project initiate a dialogue about the intersections between art, politics, and personal experience.
