POSTPONED // The Sky-High Tree // Fabok Mancsi Puppet Theatre (Hungary)

Fabok Mancsi Puppet Theatre (Hungary)

Once upon a time, long, long ago, there lived an old king who had a beautiful daughter. In the middle of their courtyard—something you may find hard to believe—stood a marvelous tree! It was so tall that it surely reached the sky. I say “surely” because no one could know for certain, as no human had ever seen its branches or leaves. That is why it was called the “topless tree.” Some believed that its crown (if it even had one) pierced straight into the vault of the sky, breaking through its seven layers and reaching all the way to the toes of God, while its roots stretched deep down into the underworld. It was said that at the very top of the tree there was a spring, the source of love and of all life… These were only guesses, however, as no one knew for sure—because no human being had ever managed to climb that tree.
