The desire to fly is as old as humanity itself. Walking upon the earth, humankind has always dreamed of rising into the sky and soaring like the birds. Only two concerns usually arise in connection with this: takeoff and landing. “The art of flying, or rather the knack of it, is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.” — recommends Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. And we have been practicing this for centuries… “To invent an airplane is nothing. To build one is something. But to fly is everything.” (Otto Lilienthal)

“Please take your seats on board!” — says the smiling flight attendant of Márkus Airline. The airplane engines start, the propellers begin to spin, the pilot lifts the aircraft from the runway, and we leave everyday life behind to begin a journey through time — from the dawn of aviation to the conquest of outer space. Unfortunately, every flight begins with a fall. But wings grow while flying!
Márkus Airline – The Expert of Moon Landings.

Through the sequence of scenes in this performance, we pay tribute to mythological and real figures who live on in human memory through their dream of experimenting with and inventing flight.
