The Treehouse
Auăleu Theatre, born out of a dream, is a free autonomous space. It is part of the subcultural patrimony of Timișoara and it is visited by people who are not trained in the forced cultural system. Straight and uncut, Auăleu Theatre continues its adventure, ignoring all barriers and holes and this year on the 6th of May it celebrated 10 years of existence. The performances take place in a small and intimate room in an old house which hosts Auăleu Theatre, Scârț Café and The Museum of The Communist Consumer. The audience: active in its role, decides the price of the ticket by free voting, participates at the theatre rehearsals, influences through direct and honest opinions the result of the performances, helps the theatre with props, costumes and any onther objects they no longer have use for. The team: 8 actors, all of them play instruments, are of different ethnic backgrounds and hold various positions at Auăleu: mechanics, props supervisors, ushers, dressers, light designers and lastly, actors.
Auăleu Theatre is not linked to any political party, it does not benefit of subsidies or other finnancial support by the state, it survives by itself and hence: it is free.
