Eight days, 36 performances, artists from 15 countries, 20 venues, and thousands of spectators — this was the 16th edition of the Euroregional Theatre Festival TESZT, organized by the Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara.

The 16th edition of the TESZT Festival continues until May 30 with performances from Romania and abroad, revolving around the theme of this year’s edition: DIVERGENCES. Under the umbrella of this multilayered topic, the selection invites reflection on conflict, borders, loneliness, finding a home, and human rights.
Due to technical reasons, several performances within TESZT16 are changing their venue.
In order to make it easier to navigate the festival program, TESZT provides transportation for spectators from the city center to our two peripheral venues - Uzina de Teatru - UTT (Calea Aradului 48) and Cinema Unirea (Intrarea Plantelor 1, Piața Doina). Spectators are asked to inquire at the box office and follow the instructions of the ticket agents. Access to the bus is only possible with a ticket for the show or festival badge.
The 2026 edition of the TESZT Festival TESZT Festival brings a series of street theatre performances to the squares of Timișoara as part of its 16th edition, with the aim of extending into the city’s fabric and getting closer to local residents between May 23–30. The events are free of charge and can be enjoyed in the city’s iconic public squares — Piața Unirii Union Square, Piața Victoriei Victory/Opera Square, Piața Libertății Liberty Square, and Piața Sfântul Gheorghe St. George Square.
The Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre and the ProTeszt Association will once again transform Timișoara into a meeting point of the international theatre scene between May 23 and 31. Ticket sales have officially begun for the 16th Timișoara Euroregional Theatre Meeting – TESZT, as well as for the performances of the FemminiCity – Women for Women Festival, organized within its framework.
Since 2008, the Euroregional Theatre Festival Timișoara, organised by the Hungarian State Theatre ‘Csiky Gergely’, a minority theatre in a multilingual city, has been one of the most important theatrical dialogue spaces in the euroregion. This year, it triggers the question: how can we exist and coexist in an age of division marked by war and post-war realities, migration, rising populism and right wing extremism, digital polarisation and climate crisis?
